NATURAL POINT B9 400 Dietary supplement Above all known as “folic acid”, this vitamin gets its name from the term “folate, foliage”. Its primary sources are: green leafy vegetables (broccoli, spinach and lettuce). Folic acid deficiency is primarily caused by an unbalanced diet. What is B9 400? B9 400 is a vitamin B9, or folic acid, supplement. It is produced in accordance with high quality standards. It is allergen-free and not GMO.
Folic acid plays a key role in cell division processes and a fundamental role as a carrier of carbon in the formation of the heme group, the non-protein part of haemoglobin that contains iron, needed for red blood cell formation. The formulation of the blood therefore benefits from taking this vitamin. Folic acid is needed for the formation of nucleic acid, which is essential for cell growth and reproduction. Its action in supporting breast tissue growth during pregnancy is particularly well known. The brain also benefits from the qualities of this precious vitamin, which, concentrated in spinal and extracellular fluid, is involved in normal mental function. Recent studies highlight the importance of taking folic acid during pregnancy: low levels of maternal folate are a risk factor for the development of foetal neural tube defects. It must be emphasised that psychological and emotional health is dependent on the intake of the correct amount of folic acid, which, at the same time, contributes to improving general well-being, stimulating the appetite, strengthening the immune system and reducing fatigue and tiredness. Folate is a key element in the enzyme that allows DNA duplication and normal amino acid synthesis. It is involved, together with cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) and pyridoxine (vitamin B6), in the metabolism of homocysteine, a key factor in the development of diseases such as atherosclerosis, osteoporosis and cardiovascular disorders. High homocysteine levels can in fact promote “oxidative stress” of LDL cholesterol, with possible effects on the cardiovascular system. Lastly, all diseases, such as coeliac disease and any other ailment accompanied by vomiting or diarrhoea that interferes with the food absorption process, can lead to folic acid deficiency. Also alcohol, smoking and contraceptives can also deplete the body of folate. RECOMMENDATION: one capsule daily, with a large glass of water, preferably at mealtimes. NET WEIGHT: 19 grams STORAGE: Keep in a cool dry place. |
